Right now there are 1.7 million youth in America who struggle with homelessness and the
number is growing. In Pierce County alone, over 4,500 students are homeless according to McKinney-Vento Program statistics. The Homestretch follows three homeless teenagers as they fight to stay in school, graduate, and build a future. As their stories unfold, the film connects us deeply with larger issues of poverty, race, juvenile justice, immigration, foster care, and LGBTQ rights.
Please join us for a free screening of The Homestretch, and stay for our roundtable
discussions and refreshments. The Junior League of Tacoma is also collecting school
supplies for our Franklin Pierce McKinney-Vento students. Please bring any of the following:
