Annual Auction 2018 Winter Impact

Annual Auction 2018 Winter Impact

Going for Gold!

Thank you, Junior League of Tacoma (JLT) family for making the 12th Annual Auction a true success! This fundraiser is a way for JLT to demonstrate our commitment to promoting voluntarism, training volunteers and developing the potential of women.

This year we incorporated a brand new theme – the Winter Olympics! The Funding and Development Council along with active, new and sustaining members transformed the Elk’s Lodge at the Allenmore Golf Course into an Olympic Village! Over 160 guests were thrilled with the option to dress in theme to promote their country’s table. The evening included themed shirts from Switzerland, das boot from Germany, news affiliate correspondents from Austria, Union Jack and Rugby shirts representing England and even Captain Von Trapp and Maria. With the efforts of all members, we are able to proudly share we raised over $70,000! JLT is able to utilize these funds to support our programs in Tacoma and throughout Pierce County.

The donated items ranged from Husky football and basketball tickets to an Instant Pot, a ski wine bottle holder, and a trip to Leavenworth.  With 78 Auction packages valued at $38,000 there was something for everyone.

The highly anticipated and sought out wine raffle won the gold medal with 85 bottles valued at over $1,500. The lucky winnersof this instant wine cellar were Daneel and Joey Smith.

Our Best of Live item selected by Angel and Ken Blanford was the fabulous Alderbrook Resort One Night Stay with a $300 gift certificate to use at the resort. The Dessert Dash was savored by our guests and we raised over $4,000. The desserts ranged from Olympic themed cookies to cupcakes to licorice. A sincere thank you to all the sustainers who donated or procured dessert items.

Another fan favorite this year was the “Heads or Tails” game. Participates battled down to the last two and with a quick flip of the coin, our winner was chosen.  Winner Ryan Bethel won two-pre-season Seahawk tickets donated by Joey Smith of Ameriprise Financial.

The Olympic Village guests were treated to professional auctioneer Mr. Dave Ryckman and his staff from Stokes Auction Group. MC Kate Sandoval kept the crowd energized during every bidding war. The Live Auction items ranged from a weekend with a BMW rental to a long weekend stay in Whistler to a scenic seaplane tour on Lake Washington and lunch for two.  The Live Auction items raised $17,500.

President Missy Zenczak graciously thanked and showcased the amazing efforts and talents of the League during the Raise the Paddle part of the night which raised $12,600.

Overall, it was a very successful night. We appreciate the countless hours of planning, preparing, creating, designing and dreaming by the Funding and Development Council and others that helped make this auction such a success.
