Bib ‘N Bid

Bib ‘N Bid

10th Annual Bib ‘N Bid goes Masquerade, raising over $68,000!

Thank you, Junior League of Tacoma Members, family and friends for making this year’s Bib ‘N Bid event a riveting success!

Celebrating our 10th Annual Bib ‘N Bid encouraged us to shake thing up a bit. We went for something a little less fishy, and a little more flashy, with a masquerade theme. Guests and volunteers joined JLT on March 4, 2016 at the Tacoma Country & Golf Club to help raise funds for our mission and to promote our platform to bring awareness about youth experiencing homelessness in Pierce County. The efforts of new, active, and sustaining members helped raise over $68,000 in support of JLT’s programs in Tacoma and throughout the Pierce County area.

Planning for this annual event began in fall of 2015 by the Funding and Development Council and included an exciting makeover to the theme; from cracking crab to masks and a plated Surf ‘n Turf Dinner. This change in theme included new centerpieces and décor along with encouraging guests to dress their best with adorning mask.

This year featured over 200 items donated from JLT members, local individuals and businesses, and other non-profit organizations willing to help support JLT’s mission of promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and the leadership of trained volunteers.

Upon arrival, guests were encouraged to peruse three silent auction tables while sipping on a signature cocktail provided by Heritage Distilling Company. There was also an opportunity to snap candid photos with the 1,000 Words Entertainment photo booth, and enjoy a caricature portrait with family and friends by artist Mark Brill of CLAW. This year attendees were able to enter not one but two exciting raffles. Our annual wine raffle included over 70 bottles for the winner and raised a total of $2,300. In addition to the wine raffle, guests were able to enter the “Best of Live” raffle, which raised an impressive $3,800. The winner was able to choose their live item of choice at the opening of the live auction, an exhilarating announcement for all! The fantastic desserts provided by our Sustainer Members had the guests racing during the Dessert Dash and helped raise $3,400! The plated Surf ‘n Dinner was divine with a filet minion and skewer of prawns and scallops!

For the second year, Professional Auctioneer Mike Merrill, and his staff from Stokes Auction Group led us into the live auction portion of the evening. Mike and active member Tyrees Marcy did a wonderful job engaging guests in the action.

As always guests showed their enthusiasm and support for Junior League of Tacoma’s mission during Raise the Paddle event raising $9,525. Lynette Buffington, VP of Operations for the JLT, presented how her experience in the Junior League of Tacoma has provided training and skills valuable in the professional world and in the community.

This year, Raise the Paddle supported the Junior League’s effort to continue our mission of putting trained volunteers into the community and developing the potential of women. With that, we are planning some great learning opportunities for our members by bringing in speakers and sending select members to national trainings. The Junior League of Tacoma would like to personally thank Vanessa Herzog and Paul Brain for donating $2000, DeAnne and Dr. Larry Baer and Ann and BZ Zenczak who donated $1,000, kicking off a wonderful start to a fantastic cause. The Funding and Development Council would like to thank the Junior League of Tacoma and its members for making this year’s 10th Annual Bib ‘N Bid Auction so successful. It would not have been possible without the diligent efforts of so many members: New, Active, and Sustaining. We appreciate our volunteers and sponsors that offered their time and resources. A big thank you to the Funding & Development Council for their time, energy, and hard work to make this event successful!
